Single Deck Blackjack at 11bd — Get the Best Advantage from One Deck

Single Deck Blackjack is played with just one deck of 52 cards — the classic Blackjack variant where skilled players can track the cards most easily.

How a Round Works

Each round of Single Deck Blackjack starts with placing a bet. After bets are placed, the dealer gives each player one face-up card and also takes one face-up card. In the second round, each player receives another face-up card and the dealer takes one face-down card.

The goal is to score closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Number cards count at face value. Jack, Queen and King each count as 10. An Ace counts as either 1 or 11 — whichever is more favorable for the player.

On their turn, a player can say Hit to take another card, Stand to stop, or — if the conditions are met — Double Down or Split. After all players have taken their turns, the dealer flips over the face-down card. The dealer must Hit up to 16 and must Stand on 17 or more. Anyone whose score exceeds 21 (bust) loses; among the rest, whoever scores higher than the dealer wins.

11bd Single Deck Blackjack — Card Dealing at the Table

Dealer vs Player

With fewer cards in a single deck, it is easier to keep track of which cards have come out in each hand. This is what sets Single Deck Blackjack apart from other variants.

Bet Types and Payouts

In Single Deck Blackjack, alongside the main bet, several special bets are available. Each has a different payout.

Main Bet

The most common bet. If you beat the dealer, you are paid at 1:1 — a ৳100 bet wins ৳100.

1:1 Payout

Blackjack

Getting an Ace and a 10-value card on the first two cards makes a Blackjack. It typically pays at 3:2 — a ৳100 bet wins ৳150.

3:2 Payout

Insurance Bet

If the dealer's face-up card is an Ace, the player can place Insurance of up to half the main bet. If the dealer has Blackjack, it pays at 2:1.

2:1 Payout

Double Down

After receiving the first two cards, you can add another bet equal to the original and take just one more card. In the right situation, this is the most profitable move.

Extra 1:1

Split

If you receive two cards of the same value, you can split them into two separate hands. Each hand requires a stake equal to the original bet.

Two Separate Hands

Side Bets

Many tables offer Perfect Pairs or 21+3 side bets. These provide an extra earning opportunity beyond the main game, but the house edge is higher.

11bd Blackjack — House Edge and Card Tracking

Why the House Edge Is Lower

Among all Blackjack variants, the Single Deck version generally has the lowest house edge. Having only one deck makes it easier to calculate card probabilities, and following basic strategy increases this advantage further.

Keep in mind that the house edge also depends on the payout structure. At tables where Blackjack pays 6:5 instead of 3:2, the house edge rises significantly. So it is wise to check the table's payout rules before you start playing.

The rules for Double Down, Split and Insurance in Single Deck also affect the house edge. Compared to Multi-Deck games, skilled players gain more of an advantage in this variant because the composition of the deck changes quickly after each hand.

Starting Strategy — For Beginners

Basic strategy is a guide to the mathematically best decisions — when to Hit, when to Stand, when to Double Down or Split. The table below provides a simple foundation for beginners.

Your Hand Value Dealer's Card 2–6 Dealer's Card 7–A
8 or less Hit Hit
9 Double Down Hit
10-11 Double Down Double Down
12-16 Stand Hit
17+ Stand Stand
Two Aces Split Split
Two 8s Split Split

This table is a general guide; there may be slight differences depending on the specific table rules.

Some Important Tips

  • Choose a table that pays Blackjack at 3:2, not 6:5.
  • Beginners are generally better off avoiding the Insurance bet.
  • Never Split two 10-value cards — that is already a strong hand.
  • Set a budget and do not exceed it in a single session.
  • Having a sense of card tracking in Single Deck makes decisions easier.

11bd Live Dealer Blackjack Table Environment

Live Dealer — A Real Feel

In the live version, a professional dealer deals cards in real time. Every move is visible on camera, keeping the game completely transparent.

Live Dealer vs Digital Version

Single Deck Blackjack can be played in two different formats — Live Dealer and RNG (Random Number Generator) based digital version.

Live Dealer Version — A professional dealer deals cards via live stream from a real studio. Every card is visible as it is dealt. A chat option is also available. This experience is available at the Live Blackjack tables on 11bd Casino.

Digital Version — Played using RNG technology with no dealer. Every round is shuffled automatically, so there is less opportunity to track cards. The pace is faster and it is easy to pause at any time.

Players who want the feel of a real game environment are well suited to live tables. The digital version is better for beginners building their skills, as they can play slowly with smaller stakes.

11bd Blackjack — Different Limit Options at the Table

About Table Limits

Single Deck Blackjack tables are generally available in three limit ranges — low, medium and high. Before each round, the table's minimum and maximum bet amounts are shown on screen.

For new players, starting at a low-limit table is best. It gives you the chance to understand the rules and rhythm of the game. Once you have some experience, a medium-limit table becomes more comfortable.

High-limit tables offer the chance to play with larger stakes, which is attractive to experienced players. Live tables generally have a slightly higher minimum bet compared to the digital version.

Side bet limits are usually a portion of the main bet limit. Check your budget before choosing a table. Read the FAQ for answers to common questions about Blackjack tables.

Single Deck Blackjack — Common Questions

Single Deck uses only 52 cards, while Multi-Deck shuffles 4 to 8 decks together. With a single deck, it is easier to track which cards have been dealt, and the house edge is lower when the correct strategy is applied. However, if the deck is reshuffled after every round, this advantage is reduced somewhat.

When you have an Ace and counting it as 11 still keeps your total at 21 or below, that hand is called a "Soft Hand." For example, an Ace and a 6 together make a Soft 17. A "Hard Hand" has no Ace, or the Ace must be counted as 1. Hitting on a soft hand carries less risk because there is no chance of going bust.

In the long run, an Insurance bet is generally not profitable for the player, because the probability of the dealer having Blackjack is lower than what the Insurance payout reflects. However, experienced card counters do use Insurance when they are confident that many 10-value cards remain in the deck.

When your total is 12 or more, Doubling Down is generally risky because any 10-value card will bust you. It is also better to avoid Doubling Down when the dealer's card is 7 or higher, especially if your hand is weak.

When the player and the dealer have the same score, it is called a "Push" or tie. In this case the player's bet is returned — neither won nor lost. No money is gained or lost on a tie.

Yes, it can be played directly through a mobile browser. The 11bd App also has versions for both Android and iOS. The Hit, Stand, Double Down and Split buttons work easily on a touchscreen.
